The Texas juvenile justice system is failing our youth.
Over the last decade there has been a steady increase
in the number of youth committed to the Texas Youth Commission, the most costly and ineffective aspect of
the state juvenile justice system. High racial disparity, abusive conditions of confinement, and a lack of community-based alternatives all reveal a broken
system. It’s time to try something different.

The Texas Coalition Advocating Justice for Juveniles (TCAJJ) is a statewide coalition of community-based organizations, civil rights advocates, youth advocates, faith-based organizations, families, and young people working to rebuild the Texas juvenile justice system
into a humane, effective, rehabilitative system for
young people.
